RSVP at our Transportation Techies Meetup site.
We’ve all heard that “active transportation” makes people healthier … how can we use data to explore the nexus of transportation and health? Let’s explore the data out there and see if we can create innovate apps and visualizations that “mash up” different aspects of transportation and health. Yes, this is a challenge for YOU to explore and create! To get you started, we’ve assembled a set of health-related data resourced: http://www.meetup.com/Transportation-Techies/pages/Transportation_and_Health/ To add new resources, comment here or send us an email.
Our special health sponsor
We’re proud to bring you Jeff Olson, principal at Alta Planning + Design as the keynote speaker of this Meetup, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente (@KPShare), the nation’s largest non-profit health system, with the support of Kaiser Permanente Digital Technology and Operations (@KPDigitalHealth), Kaiser Permanente Green Healthcare (@KPGreenHC), and of course Every Body Walk (@everybodywalk).
Healthy food, healthy conversation
Kaiser Permanente aspires to improve the health of our members, employees, our communities and the environment by increasing access to fresh, healthy food in and around Kaiser Permanente facilities. Kaiser Permanente supports food systems that are ecologically sound, economically viable and socially responsible by the way food is purchased.
A meetup to talk about health (or any meeting) should be healthy, shouldn’t it?
We’re here to support a culture around all of the determinants of health, including transportation. That’s what we mean by total health.
We’ll be catering this one with choices that are healthy, delicious, and provide the right energy to solve challenging problems. You can look at samples from our flickr pool to prepare your palate.
Please note that three entrances share the address of 700 2nd Street NE. The Center for Total Health entrance is the northernmost of these.
The Center for Total Health is co-located with the Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center, and the facilities are not attached, allow yourself 15 minutes of potential wandering time to find us (and celebrate the added health benefit of those extra steps!)
Directions from Union Station Metro:
- Enter Union Station and head toward Amtrak Gate K
- Follow the signs to Kaiser Permanente’s Capitol Hill Medical Office Building, which are placed along the walk from Union Station
- When you reach the entrance into KP, bear left toward the elevators.
- Take the elevators to G (ground floor)
- Exit to the sidewalk (go outside), turn left, and walk two doors North to the Center for Total Health
Because parking is at a premium, we recommend not driving (and why would you take passive transportation to this Meetup anyway).
