Ballston and the Silver Line: A Big Opportunity

July 24, 2014

The new Silver Line connects the economically-crucial Dulles Corridor in Northern Virginia with the rest of the region by Metrorail.

With Phase I complete, a rider can reach five new stations leading out to Reston, Virginia. One stop before the Silver Line branches off from the Orange Line to the five new stops is the Ballston station.

This video offers an introduction to some of the many ways this Arlington urban village is strategically positioned to reap big rewards from the investment the Washington D.C. region is making in public transportation. It features Tina Leone, CEO of the Ballston Business Improvement District, giving Mobility Lab a tour of how transportation-oriented development is helping Ballston become:

  • one of the hottest places in Arlington
  • a place relatively free of traffic jams, and
  • a place where people feel connected.
