Building Site Plans

December 12, 2022

Mobility Lab provides research assistance to TDM for Site Plans (Transportation Demand Management for Site Plan Development division) to prepare transportation performance monitoring studies. The Site Plans team assists Arlington County in carrying out transportation performance monitoring for buildings, which is a condition of Arlington County’s permitting process. Transportation performance monitoring comprises of collecting data and information through resident surveys, intercept surveys, parking counts and interviews with the property managers of high-density residential buildings in Arlington County. Data collected from the transportation performance monitoring studies provide information on travel behaviors and parking use and supply for residents and tenants of these high-density building developments.

TDM for Site Plans provides technical assistance and guidance to developers and property managers to carry out the design and implementation of transportation elements in large building projects during the site plan process. Examples of transportation elements are bike parking facilities and van-accessible garages which are incorporated into new or renovated development at the time of construction.
In addition, the Site Plan team works directly with developers and property managers to provide resources and information on transportation requirements and services to enhance transportation options for residents, tenants and visitors through annual site visits and the transportation performance monitoring studies.

TDM for Site Plans is a division of Arlington Transportation Partners and Arlington County Commuter Services.
