Energizing People to Take Action for Transportation and Place

March 16, 2015

Mobility Lab – and many of our partners – believe it’s long past time to get serious about public transportation in this country. We need to make a stronger and clearer case to the public and to our leaders about the benefits of transportation options.

Auto companies, for example, are very clear that our freedom and status are tied to buying the products in their commercials. What are the promises we as transit and city-planning and tech advocates can offer?

Let’s accentuate the positives of transportation options. For too long, we have nudged people, in our communications and advertising, that the subway is scary, the bus is only for “those other people,” and biking and walking are some kind of alternative lifestyle.

These videos feature several transportation thought leaders discussing where public transportation is headed and ways we can all be involved. They are part of our attempt to consolidate the various – often conflicting and confusing – messages from public-transportation advocates.

These videos, and others we’re planning, will hopefully get us a step closer to making our case. Please share them widely.
